I generally prefer someone who I can support a team as.

Karby, you listed Phantom Lancer as one of your favorites. He's definitely a solid top pick. Phantom Lancer is a great lane pusher, and once you get his manta, even if the rest of your team is feeding, you can quickly push a lane solo up to their base and keep them on the defensive. He's honestly one of the most powerful heroes in the game, as far as his ability to win a game, not necessarily in his ability to farm kills. I usually shy away from PL because because games end too fast when he's played well.

My favorite heroes to play are Omniknight, Tidehunter, Antimage, and Geomancer.

Antimage is the ultimate hero killer by the time you finish a Vlad's and then get your Hood. Nigh-indestructible amounts of spell resistance plus a five second blink... just a really fun hero to play as.

Omniknight with BoT's, a Mek and an AR can be so devastating on a team push.

Geomancer is just the most overpowered hero in the game if you can micro his nets and poof. His gear-up is slow, but he's a momentum based hero. Once you get his items he's just a brutally powerful hero.

But Tidehunter > All. People often scoff when I mention Leviathan as my favorite hero, but he is the best puller in the game. He is quite literally immune to damage from creeps past level 7, and nearly immune to harass and hero damage past 11 with a Vanguard. I consistently take Tidehunter 10-0 or better.
