IF you were forced to read a biography (lol), and the first paragraph of the book started of with:
My Google Desktop program just notified me I have a new Facebook message; It’s is from Courtney. This usually isn’t a good thing. I’ve never received a private message from someone who didn’t threaten me or just ask a question.
“This may not surprise you, but I remember very little of Saturday night lol.
This did not surprise me.
“I vaguely remember taking pictures with you and I remember being confused about your name? lol. I don't really know though.
Somehow I think she is just playing with me and wants attention. She defiantly knew my name after I finally told her.
“Regardless, I hope you had a good time at 40 week. You better be coming back to Bradley at some point though. I mean, I don't kiss the cheek of just anyone :)
Courtney is the result of me investing two hundred and ten dollars into a road trip that lead me to Peoria, Illinois. For someone who didn’t remember what she was doing, I must have made a decent impression on her. I’ll consider that a good thing, it was the first private message I have received from anyone who just wanted to talk(over Facebook). Ashley was also part of that investment. And Tracey. Maybe Hannah as well. Beckah might, and hopefully will, be in the future.
Remember, taken from Wikipedia.com that: "a biography is more than a list of impersonal facts like birth, education, work, relationships and death. It also delves into the emotions of experiencing such events."
It would be an indepth biography written in a comical and straight forward say whats on my mind, fuck off if your offended, kind of style. Think of Comedy Central Colbert Report kind of humor, without the political talk.
The two questions. Both mean different things to me, even if they sound similiar.
1) Would you continue reading the book based on that intro?
2) If you knew the book would cover personal experiences involving: drunk stories, girl friend stories, high school stories, random deviate things, road trips, WoW, lifestyles, pissed off people, emo people, Legos, dreams, mocking people who tried to commit suicide, quotes, and all the emotions and personal thoughts I think inside my head about situations, all written in the style mentioned above, would you continue to read it?
Thanks!

Re: I ask for anyone's advice
No. I dislike facebook, myspace and all social net[stalk]working sites. I also don't like Google desktop. There are too many quality books I have yet to read...
Re: I ask for anyone's advice
I would read that biography just for the fact of knowing that I have read the best biography ever. And by best I mean worst, but really, I mean best.
What's the name of the biography? More importantly, do I have access to it?

Re: I ask for anyone's advice
Metzer, is this the beginning of a biography you are writing about yourself?
Re: I ask for anyone's advice
It would be interesting to read for the mere fact that it is so current. I doubt there's any other biographies out there right now that deal with Social Networking and it's role that it plays in society.
In general, I'm not a HUGE fan of Social Nets, but it would be interesting nonetheless.

Re: I ask for anyone's advice
There is no title yet.
The whole thing is being written for extra credit for a personality psychology class. The professor semi joked about writing a biography about yourself, so I took it in a literal sense. I have about 15 pages of text covering four unique experiences and the whole thought process behind them, during my last two years in high school. I have a ways to go.
I guess one thing I want to accomplish is make the reader involved in the story; make them say "wow, if I was in that situation I would have done ____ instead". Or have them thinking "thats fucked up" or "yea thats what I would have done".
I just had doubts about opening it with that facebook paragraph. Background information regarding it would come much later in the book, fyi.
It's also not a life biography covering ages 1-15. More so the last two years of high school and my entire college life up to this point.

Re: I ask for anyone's advice
The facebook thing is a welcome sort of start/change imo because like has been said, its something more current and for many people more in tune with their live as opposed to reading about some old guy that struggled through tough times and made it to the top. The way I read this particular beginning im not sure i would continue though as it sort of reads broken, and regardless if this is the way the thoughts crossed your mind I could not stand to read 2 pages of it let alone 15+.
Re: I ask for anyone's advice
Hrm. Thanks for the replies. I'm really interested in what Sekke and Aur wrote. Although Andy despises of it, I think it could be an interesting topic to write about.
When I think about all the online/mobile social networks there are and that I've been a part of, its crazy how much of peoples relationships dwell in them. I myself don't even like talking to people unless its face to face.
Like 8 years ago, the first girl I asked out in high school was over msn. And to think I only log on msn like once a month these days.
Now that I think about it, Andy, that whole miscommunication AIM chat with some poor girl thinking Biffins fucked her roommate fits into this pretty well.

Re: I ask for anyone's advice
Is this your own biography? Your life revolves around facebook?
Re: I ask for anyone's advice
I may be wrong or i may be using synonyms essentially, but it almost seems like memoires more then an autobiography being that it only covers a portion of metzer's life.
To elaborate a little more on what i meant before, im not sure i care for interjections of your thoughts between each quote from her, im not if it would read smoother to myself if you laid out the whole section and then wrote out what your thoughts were. I was not quote sure how someone just wanting to ask you a question is a bad thing that could tie together with threats either, which would have turned me off to the reading the personality of someone that would relate the two. And also the girls names with investments seemed out of place and didn't make much sense in its current form.
Just tossing out some thoughts of how it came across on first read, and rereading it again now.
P.S. F english, math/science ftw
