Source Naturals Enteric Coated Ultra Potency Omega-3 Fish Oil -- 850 mg

I am not a big fish fan so the Enteric coating is good for me.

I've been taking the Carlson brand fish oil for a few months now. You can get from Whole Foods, if you have those around you. I don't use the capsules since the liquid form is substantially more potent.

If you are interested, each bottle has 200ml, each serving is 5ml (teaspoon). Each 5ml has:

Omega 3 fatty acids: 1600mg

of that

EPA 800mg
DHA 500mg
Other 300mg

Comes in lemon flavor so it doesn't taste awful at all. I just take the spoonful right before my daily shake and I don't even notice it.

Perhaps I used the wrong word there. The liquid is more economical, see below.

From: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?pr ... age=family

Product Info:
As a dietary supplement, take one to two softgel capsules daily.
Supplement Facts
Serving Size 1 soft gel capsules
Servings Per Container 180
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) (omega-3) 180.00 mg **
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid)(omega-3) 120.00 mg **

To get the equivalent of a 5ml serving of the oil I use, thats roughly 4 pills per day at a cost of $0.33 per serving, 45 servings per 180 capsule bottle.

From your own link: http://www.vitacost.com/Source-Naturals ... 3-Fish-Oil

Supplement Facts
Serving Size: 1.00 Softgels
Servings per container: 120.00
Amount Per Serving % Daily Value
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) 450 mg *
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) 340 mg *

Other omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids 60 mg *

To get the equivalent of a 5ml serving of the oil I use, thats roughly 2 pills per day at a cost of $0.33 per serving, 60 servings per 120 capsule bottle.

For comparison, http://www.vitacost.com/Carlson-The-Ver ... t-Fish-Oil
Supplement Facts
Serving Size: 1.00 Tspn
Servings per container: 100.00
Amount Per Serving % Daily Value
Omega-3 Fatty Acids 1600 mg *
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) 800 mg *
DHA (Docosahexaenoc Acid) 500 mg *

Other Omega-3 Fatty Acids 300 mg *

So for 100 servings per bottle and a price of $0.23 per serving, thats the best deal and most convenient, at least in my mind. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Do the liquid ones come with a thing to help measure / ingest the correct amount?

I went and bought a small set of the pills to see if I like it. My GNC didn't really have a lot of options. The pills ultimately seem more convenient since I will be taking these at work and at home (those are when my biggest meals are).

No, the liquid fish oil just comes in a bottle, kind of like a small bottle of alcohol. I just use a standard teaspoon, or a nyquil cup to measure it out.

Check out Tache's link, and whatever brand/type you decide on, I would recommend buying it from a quality online store, as the prices are often substantially better. Finally, GNC's brand is not very good compared to other alternatives, and is by no means the cheapest either. I'd suggest taking a look at the one Mike linked, or the Carlson brand if you choose the liquid form. Much more bang for your buck there.

Oh yeah I totally agree on anything with a GNC brand. I went with one, that I can't remember the name of at the moment.

Also, Mike mentioned enterec coating. Does where it is ingested make a difference? I also rarely eat fish, so I'm wondering if I should get some with this as well.

I have no idea, but I'll ask my nutritionist the next time I go see her. She is also the one who initially recommended I take the liquid over the capsules, as did my trainer.

The capsule is tasteless basically. I don't know why they make a lemon coating it's also 2 bucks more for the same amount with the lemon coating. I also stocked up last time they were B1G1 since they seem to go on that sale on the military base here every other month. Also the capsules I like better just cause since I take other medicine while eating it just helps it go along I don't have to bust out my spoon, pour it on there, spill a bunch and have my cat assault me cause she eats anything that falls on the floor. Also I haven't checked if they sell the liquid at my GNC but I don't pay taxes since it's military so my cost efficiency is better than yours biffins. :P
