Good digital cordless phone suggestions

So I need a new phone, and I've been looking around. The two best reviews I've found are for

However, despite many glowing reviews, both units have some pretty bad bad reviews. I don't care about lemons, etc as that happens, but both units seem to have a fair number of complaints about range. All I really care about is that it has an answering machine, and that I can get good range from it. I live on the 2nd floor of a 3 family house, and I do a lot of gardening and yard work, so it absolutely has to work outside. Anyone have good experiences with either of these 2 models, or something else?

At my job and at home we use panasonic brands. I have yet to have any issues with range... unless i walk out to the parkinglot to go to my car (i work for ups so its a decent walk). But yeah man as far as the brand panasonic is where i would go.

Why don't you just get a decent cell phone? Then you won't have to worry, imo.
