there's a ton of difference. i mean, it's all generated by vocal chords and pressure from the lungs/stomach, so you get the nuances you hear in singing in screaming as well. of course there's bad screaming, but those singers usually fuck up their vocal chords pretty fast. it's actually pretty hard to sing in a heavy band, let alone a death one, and maintain that kind of voice.

it's simply one of the many forms of music. you either get it, or lump it all together as noise. there's a difference between liking something, and acknowledging it :P /shrug

Mmm, while I agree with you to an extent, you are correct about how the tone and sounds are created, however with proper yelling you don't harm your vocal chords.

I do any yelling and screaming in the bands I have been in and the fun one we have now, my voice will go raw after a while, because my vocal chords will get tired, but you won't do any damage to them if you do it correctly.

You do however find singers, like disturbed's lead singer, that learn the hard way that if you yell and scream improperly, you end up having to get major repairs.

Sixthy informed me about Slipknots frontman getting out of his 3rd one recently.

yeah, totally. that's why there are voice coaches. it's just like any instrument really, except it pays even more to learn to play it right, since it's your own body :P

I personally dont like Blythe's vocals, but thats because im more partial to the music anyways. mark morton + willie adler = some of the best riffs in metal.

Mmhmm, though admittedly I've become a much bigger fan of fan of hardcore and metalcore lately (ie Shai Hulud, Darkest Hour, and then stuff like One King Down or Have Heart, Champion)

Which is why I personally (and many people, I'm sure) listen to LoG in the first place. Mark and Willie being driven by Chris Adler is just insane. Randy Blythe just does what he does.

If you put Randy Blythe's vocals on top of Darkest Hour, I wouldn't listen to that band. If you put Darkest Hours singer over Lamb of God's music, I'd probably still listen.

Darkest Hour is def up there, as for Hardcore, Terror is a great band and if u can ever watch them live, its crazy.
Strapping Young Lad, Bleeding Through, BTBAM, Throwdown, It dies today.

But there is no better live show, then a GWAR show

I've heard Terror puts on an amazing live show, never had the opportunity to see them though. I dunno where Rensy is but everytime someone says BTBAM on the internet his dick explodes so he'll probably be in here shortly.

LOL, does rensy have 2glaives yet? Anyway, yes, I would highly recommend you see Terror live, I dunno where u live but they are going on tour now or fairly soon. Small local venues > all.

I hate going to shows in Vegas cuz we have 2 venues, House of Blues and The Joint inside the hardrock. And moshing (or dancing if thats your thing) are frowned upon, Terror almost walked out after their 2nd song when security threw some kids out for hardcore dancing

Nah he's still rocking just the OH.

I live near Poughkeepsie, NY. We have two good venues around here, one is in PK itself (The Chance / The Loft / Club Crannel St, all one complex but 3 stages) and then one in Danbury CT that used to be called Empress Ballroom but renamed a while back, can't think of what it was now. Lots of bands come through The Chance but good shows are few and far between lately, mostly because good bands are :P
