Last night I....
Last night I....
Dreamt that Enzy and my little brother were trying to kill me. It was straight out of a bond movie with a sweet car chase too. So they're goin all Ronin on me and shit and I'm trying to get away while Enzy is shooting at me through the rear window. But I'm fucking 007 right and I'm talkin Connery not this new douchebag. So I'm bobbing and weaving and they can't touch my shit, bullets whizzin past me like fucking Neo. Then I wake up wondering what the fuck happened. Thing is I love my brother and I'd totally do Enzy so why the hell were they up in my shit trying to bring my secret agent ass down?

Re: Last night I....
Craig > Connery as Bond.
The best demonstration of this is the first scene of the new movie where Bond actually pulls out a UMP-45 and shoots the driver of the car chasing him instead of firing some heat seaking missiles or lasers from a cloaking car that could turn into a submarine.

The last two bond movies have sucked so badly I haven't even wanted to finish them man. New expressionless dude ain't doin it for me, and the shite plots dont help either.

Yeah man, I'm sorry, but wtf is wrong with you? I grew up with Roger Moore and Connery Bond and while I like them, I also like Craig a lot. He's closer to the rutheless character that Flemming penned and I think the fact that they made the new movies prequels fits better. I don't think Craig would be a great fit for a mid-career, experienced and possibly more debonair Bond, but he's great as the raw, angry Bond. As far as plot, I mean, if you actually step back and look at some of the old Bond plots, they're pretty lol. That kind of Moriarty/Holmes supervillain dynamic just doesn't fit anymore. I think people relate more to globalized organizations of villany nowadays. Or maybe not relate per se, but it's easier for the random modern person to incorporate something like that into a quasi-acceptable plot. Unless you want the new movies to be more of a nostalgic nod to the supervillain/gadget days, which is another story, I think the new ones are a fresh take on the genre.

Re: Last night I....
"Most" of the old bond movies were pretty awesome but as mentioned a lot of the plots (by todays standards) are pretty far fetched. While I still enjoyed the movie, Moonraker strikes me as pretty lol looking back.
I stopped caring about Bond movies after Goldeneye (which is one of my favorite bond movies) as they got way too technical with cars that were just short of turning into a transformer and gadgets that made you go, WTF?
Casino Royale just really brought the franchise back to me as it focused less on gadgets and exaggerated plots. Craig plays an absolutely fantastic bond in regards to how ruthless he feels but the writing also portrays him as very much human, which in my opinion have been absent in the last few bond movies (and some of the earlier ones).
I haven't seen the new bond movie yet (canadian rural shit town FTL) but I assume it's pretty good if it turns out to be anything like Casino Royale.

Re: Last night I....
I think I liked Casino Royale a little bit more but the new one is by no means bad. I guess for me I felt the plot sort of fell out of the bottom towards the end of the newest movie, the bad guys stopped being important and the focus shifted somewhere I didn't expect it to. Again, it was a great movie, but it felt a little but off in the last half hour or so compared to what I would have expected.Tojara9 wrote:"Most" of the old bond movies were pretty awesome but as mentioned a lot of the plots (by todays standards) are pretty far fetched. Re: Last night I....
Well I actually liked how the plot of the new bond movie wasn't some retarded super villain BS and was actually someone trying to abuse a 3rd world country politics for their own gain, which happens quite a lot IRL if maybe not as obvious and grand size. But still, the main bad guys Bond has yet to take care of, he's just going up the food chain of their pawns currently.
EDIT: Bond also finally feels like someone who came from the SBS instead of a fucking valet service.

Re: Last night I....
Greatest character in a bond movie ever imo
Re: Last night I....
The stupid over the top bad guys is what made bond movies bond movies. In the the last few installments, even including some of the Brosnan shit I've found myself totally ambivalent about the death or continued life of the villan. That aside, he's supposed to be a spy, not like....ninja anime invincible, so while it might be cool to watch, and the plots might be more "feasible", they turned around and made something else totally ridiculous. Anyways, all I'm saying is that the quality of the less few has just made me sorta not give a shit, they bored me. Had this one not been forced into my sight I doubt I would have ever made the effort on my own to see it. Is ruthless young wild bond cool, yeah, sure, no doubt, and in a half decent movie maybe something could be done with that, but these two havent been those movies. In this last one they're right on the verge of establishing a real "bad guy" with that whole opera scene conspiracy shit, then whups switch back to that total tool of a dude and then the movie ends. OoOOoooOOo motor oil in his stomach. SHUT UP.
Oh, and you can disagree with me about stupid new bond movies if you want but if anyone implies Sean Connery isn't the man again I'm gonna fuck someone up.

Re: Last night I....
He's much more of an assassin than a spy, really. Bond procures specific information at whatever cost, spies simply wait till they get some then ferry it to their handlers.
And as far as ninja anime invincible, I'm sorry... did you even watch the new movies? Bond was much, much more untouchable until the franchise reboot. The worst thing that ever happened to him was being put into an easily escapable situation with an obscure threat of death from a retarded underling.
