Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
I havent played EQ in a long time (1999-2004).
Recently I did a search on Vis Maior and this post came up. Its brought up a lot of memories. We had lots of fun back in the day. I got to talk to a few of you on the phone. The only people I still am in contact is Dinirose, Khando & Brutalone.
Not sure how many of you remember me, but I remember a lot of you.
The proudest day of my EQ playing days was making it through the recruitment period (was it a month?) and was accepted in the guild.
Gemlin / Donnie - Level 65 Wizard - Quellious Server.
(Ffat, Dinirose, Guster, Woow, Karre, Jubilex, Xaba, Shinu, Damacles, Darkoor, Ellise, Xailya, Khando, Brutalone, Krondath, Faun, Tanja, Malla, Honnen, Prizm, Poltice, Poper, Crysalis, Teeth, Regret, Hits, Dhouja, Occy, Prudance, Kold, Tipu, Zenfe, Stefy, Rabbid, Talisen and more... ) I wonder at times where you guys have gone, if you play still, and hope all is well. Sorry for the others that I didn't remember your names, but it has been a long long time.

Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
Prudance here.... SHE btw :) lotta names on that list Chikkin that make me remember the great times! I moved on when the guild split after Occy left and Soullance left. I went to Afterlife where I spent the next 10 years raiding from EQ into WoW. Afterlife split up about a year ago and I moved to a friends horde guild on Icecrown. Still gaming tho. Lost touch with Dhouja about a year after I left. Sad too, I would have loved to keep in touch. If any of the old VM peeps play wow - my realid is yoshicatt@gmail.com. Say hi sometime! P.S. I still play a rogue :D
Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
Hey Ruidian, Pru, and the few others who have post since my last.
I've been playing Everquest 2 lately. I just recently built my first computer in over 10 years. It's nice having power again to run new stuff at max settings. I will take a look at Guild Wars 2 on Aug 28th.
I think I already mentioned that Zenfe contacted me through email even though I dont think he had an account here.
I hope to encourage others who have lurked by, or will stumble by this later thinking it's a dead thread to post. If anything, just check in and let us know what you're currently doing with your free time, computer game or not, mmo or not, or merely busy with the family.
In the future, while I await Everquest Next which is probably 2014, I am looking at giving Final Fantasy 11 another go. It still has nearly the same subscription base as EQ1+EQ2, although no idea how many of those are Japanese players. They are also releasing their first expansion in 6 years for those that haven't heard.
Another to keep an eye out for is is the complete remake of Final Fantasy 14 "2.0" around Jan 2013.
Only other things of note is the future expansion for Rift this year, and Vanguard going free2play. I never did check that out, I might download it to see.
Having a lot of fun with Everquest 2 right now. I had never played before. You can find me on the Freeport server as "Dookplar".
Cheers,
Chikkin/Chris

Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
How is everyone these days? Love that this board is still open.
Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
Sup man, I'm playing EQ on the new progression server and some LoL. That's about it from me. What have you been up to? Kold and Firby are playing LoL too.
Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
Tache emailed me a week or so ago, I don't remember what it said, but I figured he found me based on this.
He seemed to just be touching base with people.
But I wanted to make the effort to post here and reset my account/pw etc.
For anybody wondering (fuck if i know), I'm out of the military now. My son is 10, almost 11 going into Middle School. In Texas they call it "Intermediate school" or some such. He plays Destiny, and he has permission to play NWN online or whatever for his XB1.
I haven't let him get full-on MMO yet. I mean, hell, who knows what some crazy people will teach him. He's a good kid. He's the reason I had to quit playing MMOs 15 hours a day, and tracking dragons in Western Wastes for Dragonbane (Myga?) while the other 'normal' VM were sleeping lol.
Anyway, back to reality. Ya, I'm doing good out here in Houston now. I work for the BNSF railway. It was a good job following the Air Traffic Control career I took with the military. I'm not bragging at all, I've still got a bazillion faults. just updating for anybody out there who cares at all.
That being said, I talked to Zenfe not too-too long ago. He emailed me once or twice after checking this board. He was with RIM (BlackBerry) and then he got a job elsewhere, I'd have to dig through my email to find out more, but he's doing good.
Then Tache, well we all know he'll always do good, i mean, any guys who 'supports single moms' deserves credit.
(P.S. Tache, I want a black t-shirt that says that)
I hope everybody else is doing good.
Even being 36 now, (as opposed to 20-22 when playing EQ with VIS) I still don't hold a grudge against Nida, I still have no time for Darkoor, I still have respect for Occy, and all those who taught me online, like pretty much everybody on VM who came before me.
I still would like to find Deamien.
Message me anytime guys. My email of friz898@yahoo.com has been my main email since 1997, it has never changed.
Respect to all,
Chris

Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
Wintermute is currently in my office wearing a bulletproof vest, and we're talking about dungeons and dragons. He had to shave his glorious magnificent beard, and that makes me very sad :(
Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
PS- XIV was fun but now it's not. Crowfall will be awesome though! https://crowfall.com/
Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
I was talking with a friend about picking up mmorpg again. thought about vis Maior, did a quick search and here I am. Seeing all these names brings back tons of memories. There were good and bad times. But one thing for sure, WE OWNED THE SERVER (esp Wraith!) =P
I am happy some people still remember me and everyone seems to be living a good life. I have been doing ok myself. The only games I've been playing on and off are Diablo3 and cell phone games..that's what marriage and kids would do to you. My sons are 4 and 7 now. So I am getting a bit more freetimes..maybe i'll catch some of you in another game world =)

Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
There is a new EQ Progression server coming out today. Pretty much this server just killed the servers they released in August. It's very casual friendly as everything is now instanced. Also, Hi Woow!
Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
I'm out of touch on EQ1. That would be understanding for most, but I actually kept an eye on it all these years, even though not playing until .. I dont know about a year ago. They kept asking for more progression servers or whatever, so I guess this is progression servers 3.0, but ya, I didn't know about today.
Those are always fun. You do have to be ready to commit your life to the game, to get a remembrance of that passion/adrenaline you had in Vis. You can't just play casual and be level 30 while you here about the level 50's killing Nagafen or Vox. Because, you'lll hear about guild A and Guild B did some shady stuff, and you'll not care, you'll only have wished you were there to have been on guild A or B.
I guess I went off on a tangent. I get email notifications when this thread updates, and so already being 10 shots in, I figured I'd respond.
On a lesser note. I was late to Vis. Not as late as the people who came after Explicit, or the people who came during Vis-WoW.. but I wasn't there day one. Let me tell you though, I was told of the legend of Webin. Keep in mind, I was pretty equipped and known at the time, but I kept hearing of the Webin (and Greco) legends. ...
One day, I don't remember even how I found him, during my 15-hour play schedule, no joke, I did a /who all or something or /who friends, and had already put him on the friends. I really don't remember. But ... there was a Webin in .. the Dark Elf area. Not the city, but the area right out side where low-lvl newbies leveled up.
Call me weird, ocd, stalker'ish, etc, but I was like WHOA! It's Webin, and since I played 15 hours a day and was a click /who all or whatever every 5 mins guy, I knew I might have been the first person to find him, unless he had sent out a tell.
I wasn't VM just yet. I was close. I was in a raid guild, or just left it. But I was NOT Vis. During that part of my life, Vis was everything. Everything. I think Occy could have told me to do anything and I would have listened. I wasn't stupid, just so damn loyal.
But back to Mr. Webin.
So I sent him a whisper or whatever. Pretty much asked him if he was the real Webin or an Ebay'er. You know how that goes.....
He said he was the real Webin. I think I think I asked him a follow-up question. Maybe about Wraith/VM or about Greco, something only the real Webin would know, but he answered it and then followed it up with, hey so I need a favor.
You know what it was? That MF'er needed me (a bard in EQ1) to play my selos song because he was carrying a bunch of stuff and couln't move, even with SoW.
I, of course, selo'ed myself to him, but it was out of respect. Can you even imagine, way back then, how many people wanted selo's escorts? it was almost as bad as cleric rez or druid port... or later on wiz x-loc.
But I jumped for Mr. Webin. I didn't know him. Even though I got serious Jan 2000, pre-Kunark, it was still too late, when I made it to the 50's to actually matter, and I have no clue who the 3-4 people were who told me the Wraith/Vis legacy, and told me about Webin, Greco, and the Cleric... can't remember his name, but he also came from Wraith. Biffins. Yes, that was it.
So those 3 always got my full respect.
Ok, boring story aside.
Webin, I'm glad I was able to give you selos that day in the Nek-forest or whatever Dark Elves have. I'm also glad that you put up with some of my whispers, when I would give you crap for "disappearing" because of your girlfriend or whatever. Lord knows ... that I did NOT know a single thing. I was 21.
Anyway, anybody who reads this, whether you knew the Webin or , you didnt. Listen to him, this man knows how to play EQ (and DAoC and obviously WoW).. He ain't wasting your time when he talks.
Respect done,
Chris -- Chikkin.

Re: Where are you now? VM Finder....
Man like you say that but this one time I wanted to go to a movie and Webin was like sure lets go and then I drove to his house but he didn't answer the door so I called him and I heard his cell phone ringing in the house so I knocked again and he didn't answer so I went to see the movie by myself and you know how that is, like who sees a movie by themselves, that's just dumb. Then after the movie Webin called and he was like sorry I fell asleep. Completely unreliable!
True story.
True story.
