Neither way is really effective. When calculating by iLvL people who choose to wear poorly itemized gear appear to be better when in fact they may not be. However when calculating by stats, a mage using lightning capacitor may appear to be in worse shape than they actually are.

Someone should make a site that compares the that totals up the AEP for items that you are wearing based off of the armory. Some items would have to be manually calculated like trinket procs and on-use abilities but most of those calculations are already available on various EJ forum threads so they could just be manually entered. It may get a bit messier with spell damage classes but it would be interesting to see.

None of those stupid sites include spell haste. Worthless!

Wowmetrics doesn't have my class, and the other one takes into account buffs. QQ Some orc shaman had like 1800spellpower because he had 2 trinkets up, full totems/raid buffs/pots, and his racial active. Is there any site that doesn't count buffs?

I don't think the gankbang site counts trinket buffs but it will still count totems and raid buffs I imagine. I saw a mage on there with like 1600 dmg and when I went to their armory it said 1800 since they had trinkets up, I tried to update them on the site and it said that character was up to date.

I think we can all agree that ranking players by their items is pretty stupid!

The same can be said for ranking players by their place on a meter.
